ABOUT

Sarai is located in vibrant Fort Greene, Brooklyn, steps away from Fort Greene Park. We offer daily yoga classes for all levels, beginner to advanced, led by experienced, kind, and dedicated teachers.

Yoga is a collection of physical, mental, and spiritual practices which originated in India. The word 'Yoga' is derived from the Sanskrit root 'Yuj', meaning 'to join' or 'to yoke' or 'to unite'. Yoga means union: union with all the parts of ones' self, union with each other, and union with the natural world.

When done consistently, (we recommend practicing twice a week), yoga helps to keep your body strong, mobile, and healthy and your mind focused and clear. Yoga is also a great complement to other physical practices like sports, weight training, or cycling because of its emphasis on balance on both sides of the body and flexibility.

Our class capacity is 16-18 students, which means not only will your teacher learn your name, but they'll offer you personalized feedback and corrections to help you progress in your practice. Our students are a diverse community of warm and creative Brooklynites, and we're honored to be a place that brings them together.

We offer live music accompanied classes every Tuesday evening and host small, intimate musical performances, which we announce in our newsletter.
This body is not me.
I am not limited by this body.
I am life without boundaries.
I have never been born,
and I have never died.
Look at the ocean and the sky filled with stars,
manifestations from my wondrous true mind.
Since before time, I have been free.
Birth and death are only doors through which we pass,
sacred thresholds on our journey.
Birth and death are a game of hide-and-seek.
So laugh with me,
hold my hand,
let us say good-bye,
say good-bye, to meet again soon.
We meet today.
We will meet again tomorrow.
We will meet at the source every moment.
We meet each other in all forms of life.
